Dental treatment for weight loss


Dental Jaw wiring is one of the smart device for weight loss, very simple procedure, well tolerated and performed in less than 40 minutes. In fact, it is not even a surgical procedure. But it is a possible treatment for obesity and compulsive eating. This can be performed at any place; it is considerably much cheaper than any other surgeries as well as having zero risks. The goal of this jaw wiring method of weight control is to prevent the consumption of solid food, thus causing a drastic reduction in calorie intake. Once the required weight loss is achieved, the wiring is removed and the patient is free to eat normally. 
                              How does it work?

Orthodontic jaw wiring is a method for treating compulsive overeating and obesity. The jaw wiring apparatus comprises orthodontic brackets attached to the teeth, with wire wrapped around or through the brackets. The brackets and wires are arranged in such a way as to suspend the patient’s lower jaw in a semi-closed, partially movable resting position. This permits a moderate amount of physiologic jaw movement and person resumed to normal activities and could speak normally. while preventing the eating of solid foods.

            How Is Jaw Wiring Performed?

No anesthesia is needed due to the absence of pain or discomfort. To begin with, the teeth are cleaned. Then brackets are bonded onto the upper and lower teeth, usually 3 teeth on the upper right and 3 teeth on the upper left and the same for the lower jaw. After this, thin wire is used to connect the brackets and keep the upper and lower jaws in position. The upper and lower teeth do not touch; they are wired to allow a gap between them. The wires are removed every 4-6 weeks, and typically most patients finish treatment within 6 months.
